Name a song that really brings back alot of childhood memories.

Hmmm. The only song that I can think of right now is the Seseme Street theme it reminds me of when I was little and I would get up early just to see Ernie and Bert and Cookie Monster.

Happy Tuesday everyone. The kids went back to school today after their little break for Easter.

Yesterday David spent the day with his cousin Ashley. I was home all day with Brittany and Kaylee. We stayed in and painted sun catchers. We couldn't go out at all with the horrible rain we had. I hadn't see rain come down like that in a while. Hey all I can say it at least it wasn't snow. Today it's is still a bit cloudy but they promise tomorrow it may hit 58 and be sunny. We shall see. All I know is this weather has really been doing a number on my sinuses and allergies.

Well I have alot to do today...I want to continue on my spring cleaning...next stop Brittany and Kaylee's room.

Here is my Secret Blog Society Meme.

What's in the news? Discuss at least one that is going on in the news today either local or national.

In the news locally here on Long Island is the high cost of living. It is getting so high that people starting out can't even afford to buy a house. I have a friend who got married a few years ago and is paying rent in the same amount of my mortgage. They can't afford the money for even a starter home at the moment. My husbands friend who just got married moved just after Christmas to Florida because they knew they would never be able to afford a home here. Houses here start now at between $300,000 and $400,000 and that is not for something that big. I myself live in a ranch style home (which by the way is the house my husband has been living in since birth). The taxes here on my home are $7,000 a year which includes school taxes and property tax and they go up more and more each year. Electric is high also. We pay on a budget plan $300+ a month. How the heck do they expect us to meet the monthly mortgage payments along with utility and taxes (which are a joke). I know alot of people who live on Long Island who like ourselves have to work two jobs just to try and keep up. I wish that we could move and try to make a go of it somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, I do love Long Island it is a beautiful place we are just miles from Jones Beach there are alot of nice things to see here. I would hate to leave alot of my family that lives on Long Island and the surrounding area but it is just getting so impossible to keep up. The roof on my house is needing to be changed and with the money we pay out for everything else it is not even in the cards right now for us to do. Alan and I have discussed moving but we own our own business (The Comic Book Depot) which he would have to close or sell and he also has a second job working at UPS which I have to say helped alot. The medical benefits there have been terrific and beat us shelling out $800 a month for that. But if he left there he couldn't transfer his position to somewhere else in the country without losing all his sonority. So that leaves us back at square one again. Just wish we could figure out a better way. Well guess I said enough on that subject. Anyone else have these problems in other parts of the country? I'll get off the soapbox now....

Well it's a really rainy day today! Just one of those dreary days.

Saturday afternoon I spent the day doing some spring cleaning. I tore apart and gave my bathroom a very good cleaning, srubbing everything. I took down the blinds and cleaned them like new, washed the shower curtains, scrubbed the floor and I did the vents...which is not easy for 5'1" me to reach. I think I pulled a muscle in my back from trying to reach the ceiling. Should of waited for Alan to do that since he is 6'3". I also threw away so much stuff. I had 2 garbage bags worth of stuff that I decided if I don't use it anymore what's the point of holding on to it. My medicine cabinets and storage under the sink are so empty now. Then I started in my bedroom cleaning the sheets and quilt. David finally decided to clean his room today. I've only been asking for a few weeks now for him to do it and I guess today he finally took my threats seriously. He did a good job. I just helped him with cleaning his bathroom and changing his sheeets on his bed.

We had a very nice Easter! Thanks to all for the Easter wishes!!

Saturday night David, Brittany Kaylee and I colored Easter eggs. Easter Sunday we went to my Mom and Dad's. My mom cooked a very nice dinner turkey breast, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carotts and corn. I made a chocolate pudding pie (Alan's favorite) and devils food cake that Brittany and Kaylee helped me decorate. The kids had fun searching for Easter eggs that were hidden by their cousin Ashely outside my mom and dad's house. Overall we had a really nice time.

Today I worked on changing the graphics on my website. I also joined a group called the Secret Blog Society. It's a new group and it sounds fun!

Talk to you all soon!

Well the end of the week is already here. It's also Good Friday. Sunday we will be going to my parents house for Easter as we usually do.

As noted in my previous post I changed to Haloscan for comments. For those of you who don't know what that is, you can add your comment on this post or other posts by clicking on post a comment at the bottom of this or other posts I put up.

The kids have been off from school for the past two days for Easter break. They are only off until Monday and then go back on Tuesday. Then in April they have off for a week during Passover. David wasn't thrilled because he usually has off for his birthday which is on March 31st.

Yesterday I spent the day cleaning...as usual. I was trying to clean the places that don't usually get cleaned regularly. Like the tops of windows and doorways, the air vents, tops of pictures hanging on the wall. and curtains. Just trying to find ways of getting rid of the dust that builds up. For some reason this house gets dusty rather quickly. Guess that's because it's an older house since it was built in 1951. Today I plan on working on some laundry. I wish I had two washing machines and dryers. The amount of clothes, towels and whatever else really piles up.

Alan has off for the next week from his night job at UPS. It will be weird having him home at night. I am so used to having time alone when he leaves for work at night. He wanted to take off the week of his birthday. As it turned out David was born on Alan's birthday. March 31st. Don't ask me how I planned that one. Alan always said that was the best gift he ever got for his birthday his son!!

Well got to get movin' and get some things done today! Hugs!!

I decided to change to change the commenting section to Haloscan commenting and trackback due to the fact that I just didn't like blogger's version of comments. Because of this some recently added comments appear to have been lost. Sorry Felicia and Peggy!

Monday evening I was misrable with a mingraine headache. Mostly because of my sinuses. God the pressure was horrible. I went to bed very early and just had to sleep it off.
Today I woke up feeling much better! My mom called this morning and we went out to breakfast and then out shopping for the kids for Easter. We picked up some nice stuff. I don't like giving them just candy so we found some great sandles for the girls. If you know my girls they just love shoes!! So I know they will love them. David is older now so since he is into the gaming cards I will get some cards from Alan since we sell all that stuff in our store. Alan was off today so he stayed home and picked up the kids from school today. It was fun just getting out for the day and the weather was great today 50 degrees! I hope the weather stays this way for a while. It really felt like a spring day today!

I know most people have their kids off this whole week for spring recess. For some reason this year, they made it only a Thursday, Friday and Monday holiday for Easter and then in April they have a week off for spring recess I guess for Passover.

Well got to run and get the kids stuff ready for school tomorrow.

Hugs!!

Happy Spring on this Rainy Morning!

The weekend went by so quickly or at least it feels that way. Yesterday, I went to my mom's house for a PartyLite (candle) party. I bought a few things and had a good time and I even won one of the prizes during one of the games.

I also found out that my cousin adopted a baby girl a month ago....and I just found out yesterday from my parents. Now mind you that side of my family is very small. I just find it very strange that it took a month to let certain family members know this. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for them and it is the 2nd child they have adopted.

I also want to thank my friend Melissa for the nice gift she sent me. It was a nice surprise. I have also posted it under my gifts link. Melissa hope your feeling better too!!

Well anyways....today should be pretty uneventful. I took David to school and Brittany will be going into school in a few hours. I have some cleaning and laundry to do so I guess I should get started that is after my moring cup of java.

Hugs!

Ahhh...The Weekend!!

Well woke up with a little hangover. LOL. We went out for my bestfriend Alison's birthday. Went to a place called Charlie Browns. It was good and we had a great time. I had 1 too many chocolate martinis though. Oh well...not like I do that all the time. But they sure were good! I took some pictures and will put them up as soon as I can.

Got up this morning at 7:30 a.m. and made breakfast for everyone. Of course everyone wanted something different so I made waffles, cheese omlete, and hard boiled eggs. Guess I'm a short order cook!!

Alan took the train into Manhattan to go to some trading card show for the store. He should be home in a couple of hours. Don't think I will be going out tonight. Maybe we'll just stay in and order in food tonight and watch a movie and call it a quiet evening.

I also was sent another picture from Ronnie and I added it to his photo album please check it out.

Well that's about all for now.

Hugs!!

Hello and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Today was pretty busy. I spent the morning getting the kids up and out to school and then coming home and baking 3 loafs of Irish soda bread. I brought one up to school for Brittany's teacher. David stayed after school today to work on a Greek project with friends.

Tonight I made corned beef and cabbage with red bliss mashed potatoes, carrots and corn. It came out pretty good. I am so tired though. I have been going non-stop for 2 days and I am just worn out. I am working on a nice headache at the moment so I am going to cut this short and get into bed and sleep it off.

Tomorrow night I am going out with family and friends to celebrate my best friend Alison's Birthday. Should be fun!!

Talk to you soon!

Hugs!!

What a nice day out!

Last night we stayed in and watched a movie Alan got "The Pacifier" it wasn't the greatest movie I had ever seen but it was cute. The kids enjoyed it. It was a really a very good copy too.

Today I actually slept-in a little late. I was catching up on some much needed sleep since I just couldn't fall asleep last night after taking my medicine. I was a just so jittery.

I also got a nice surprise from a friend Antonia in my email this morning. It was a nice charm graphic with all the kids birth stone colors on it. She also made me a army guy graphic with Ronnie on it. Thanks again Antonia!!

Well today I am just staying in catching up on some laundry that needs to get done. I like having all the kids clothes done for school for the week so I don't have to worry about it during the week. Alan is going out tonight to his friends house to watch wrestling so it's gives me plenty of time to get what I need done. Well Maybe I'll go start dinner. I think I'll make a baked ziti.

Talk to you soon!

Wednesday and today Kaylee was home sick with a fever and a very runny nose. Poor thing her little nose was all red. Tonight her fever finally went down. She's so cuddly when she's sick. This darn cold just keeps running through this house and it's driving me crazy. I even spent today Lysoling and cleaning everything just to help reduce the chance of passing on germs. Alan still even has a cold. I guess the weather isn't helping much one day warm the next day snow and freezing cold. Can't wait to have the sickies out of the house.

I don't know if you remember last month when I wrote. I had told you that I met Leslie Sansone creator of Walk Away the Pounds at her new book signing at Costco in Westbury, L.I. See the picture below. Michelle (my siter on left, Leslie in the center and me on the right)

Well she was very nice and a wonderfully spirited person just the way she is on her tapes/dvd's. I was telling her that my son David enjoys doing the walking dvd's with me and I was hoping to get her new Kid Walk tapes that were out. She told me to give her my son's name and address and she would send him a special package. I thought that was so sweet. Well today it arrived!! Leslie hand wrote a beautiful letter to my son encouraging him to keep exercising and she sent him not only the Kids Walk tape but the Teen Walk tape plus his own hand weights. She also sent me the 4 mile super challenge tape and another tape for my sister who was with me that day "Walk With Me". Here is my son opening up his box of goodies:

He is so excited about exercising now. He is writing a nice thank you note to Leslie. She really made his day today!

I also added some more pictures of my cousin's new baby Nicole. She is so cute. I just love the new picture of her little foot.

Well guess that's all for now. I'm off to take my nebulizer treatment and get to sleep!

Hugs!

Well yesterday we got teased with a nice almost spring like day... Today .... more freakin snow. Ugh!! The funny thing is we were only supposed to get a dusting to an inch. Well there's 4 inches out there right now. My sister Lisa called me she works in Garden City and it took her 2 hours so far just to go 5 miles. She was getting frustrated sitting at a traffic light now 17 times. Wonder what time she'll make it home tonight. Mind you it is usually only a 20 minute ride for here to work.

Well as you can see I also changed my website a little bit. Just needed a little more room in witdh for the webpages.

I also added pictures of my new second cousin Nicole Ann who was born on March 7th. I made a little photo page for her so take a look. She is just adorable.

Well I got to go check on some laundry that hopefully should be done dryin' and I also need to start dinner.

Hugs!

Hi, Today was nice but cold out. I really didn't do too much except the usual running everyone back and forth to school all day at different times of course. I should have Taxi written on my van. Then tonight David had religious education. Next year he makes his confirmation. Seems like that went fast.

I'm still dealing with this cold. I just can't shake it no matter what I do. I was on antibiotics for 5 days and the next day after I came off I ended up with a sore throat and a head cold. At least my nebulizer treatments are helping alot with my breathing. Alan has a cold too. He's actually sleeping next to me right now. I don't think he is going into work tonight. He thinks he can just sleep it off for an hour and then get up and go to work from 11 p.m. -- 4 a.m. at UPS loading trucks. He works so hard all day and gets very little rest and then goes to work at night. He really doesn't like calling in sick. Especially this month after getting employee of the month.

Tonight I wanted to watch American Idol but I missed it. I did record it with the DVR so I guess I will watch it later or tomorrow. Wonder who went this week....I just hope that show cleaned up it's act this week. It was so wrong how they did the eliminations. It just seemed wrong. Right now I am just sitting in bed watching CSI: New York. I think it's pretty good. I'm pretty tired so hopefully I will get a good nights sleep tonight plus David want's to get up earlier to go to school at 7:45 am. for an extra help class.

Bye for now...Hugs!!
