Hi everyone....

Just a quick update about yesterday's post regarding my friend LeeAnne's mom. She passed away last evening with family by her side. Not sure about all the details for the funeral but LeeAnne had asked me last night to make a pamphlet with her mom's picture for the services. If anyone has any poems to share that I may be able to use please email them to me at dawn@thepaperins.com .

I will write more later..... Please keep her family in your prayers.

Well hello... ah yes... the weekend finally!! Plus summer school is done!! Yay!! The kids start school on September 6th so it will be coming up soon enough. David goes into 7th grade, Brittany into 1st grade and Kaylee starts kindergarten.

The past few days have been quite hectic. We attended the funeral for my Aunt MaryAnn's mom. It was so sad. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose your mom. Which is sad too because my friend LeeAnne who is also best friends with my sister Michelle is going through this right now. He mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor 12+ years ago but has just over the past few months taken a turn for the worst. She was put into the hospital to have a feeding tube put in during the week because she lost the ability to swallow. Unfortunately, she ended up pulling it out (she does not realize she is doing this) and has since been bleeding and suffering with breathing difficulties and pain. Last night the family was called to the hospital and the outcome does not look good. My sister Michelle ran up straight from work to be with her and her family. She told me that she is on high doses of morphine to try and help calm her down. I feel so bad for LeeAnne she has done so much for her mom during her illness and I know she can't imagine her mom not being here anymore. Please keep her mom and family in your prayers to give them the strength they need at this time to try and get through this.

I also posted four new pictures of Ronnie in Iraq. They are in his photo album. As far as everything else ... the pool I finally got to clear up. Looks nice and clear again. Oh and I had the landscaper over yesterday afternoon to look at the car. He still was a bit arrogant saying there is no way his machine (lawnmower) did that damage to my van. He said I can bring my lawnmower over and I said oh yea great idea lets rub it up next to the car again and scratch it some more. I said the handle is just that high so he measured and agreed. He said he wanted his guy to fix it and I said no way I would not be comfortable with that. He said I'm not giving you $1568 so this will have to go through my insurance I said I don't care so long as it gets fixed I don't care how it gets paid for. So he said he would call me today at some point and give me his insurance information. If he doesn't then guess I am going to small claims court on Monday!

So that's about it. I am just getting the kids ready today. Mom mom invited the girls and David over to have a slumber party. It's mainly for the girls. Brittany, Kaylee and my niece Katie. I had to pick out their pretty princess nighties as they call them to wear tonight. They are so excited. So that leaves Alan and I with a free night to go out!! Sounds good to me. Hmmm what shall we do. Dinner and a movie, bowling, a walk down by the beach.. not sure yet. But it's nice having the freedom to do what ever once and a while.

Hope the rest of your weekend is great!! Hugs!!

Hey. Gosh it sure is hot today though I shouldn't really complain about my 100 degrees when my poor cousin Ronnie is in Iraq in the dessert with temps of 118+ degrees with full sun. Not to mention he doesn't get to wear shorts either just alot of heavy armor and covered form head to toe. I don't know how he can take it. Yikes!! I heard it was 117 in Las Vegas too that they broke a record there. I actually got to chat with Ronnie this morning on AOL instant messenger. It was a nice surprise. He said he was sitting in his trailer on his laptop and that he managed to get a signal to get on the internet but it was pretty slow, though the instant messenger seemed to work well. He also said to thank everyone for the birthday card that I made and had everyone sign. He enjoyed reading all the messages. He said it was also nice to see the pictures of the family that I just put up in the photo album. He couldn't believe how big Nicole had gotten.

Other than than I did some errands this morning. I had to run to Massapequa to the pool store and get the water tested. I woke up and the pool was really cloudy though when I tested it everything seemed fine and right on target. Well when I got to the store they tested the water and said everything was perfect except the chlorine seemed a little on the low side. He said probably because of the extreme heat we've been having and with the pool water being 93 degrees caused the cloudiness. So I just ended up going home and adding extra chlorine and some water clarifier. Hopefully it should start to clear up by later this afternoon.

I'm home now and just had my lunch. I had my favorite tuna on an onion bagel from my favorite bagel store along with a nice coffee coolatta. I am trying to get some laundry done because tonight we have a wake to attend. My Aunt MaryAnn's mom passed away on Sunday morning and today is the only viewing day and then early tomorrow we are going to the funeral home and the church for the mass and then driving out to Calverton cemetery for the burial. Tonight though, my Aunt Tootsie is in town so she offered to watch Brittany and Kaylee so they don't have to go to the wake. I'm not sure they would understand it anyways since they are so little. So it was nice of her to do that for me. I'll bring them tomorrow for the funeral though.

**WARNING LONG VENT**
Yesterday, I decided to call the landscaper yet again. I got his machine of course and left another message for him to call me back about his overcharging me for some things on the bill and to find out when he was going to make good on my car being damaged by one of his employees. I also said that if I did not hear back from him by the end of the week that I would contact my attorney. I also said that we will also no longer be requiring your services and to please not send anyone else to do our lawn. Well I called and left that message around 12:10 p.m. and by 12:14 p.m. my phone rang...surprise!! It was the landscaper Anthony. Talking in a very tough italian voice..He says....waht's up? I said what's up? Don't you know what's up? Then he said listen missy if your gonna call and threaten an attorney then you just have your attorney call me. I said well Anthony if that is what you want then we can end the conversation here and I will hang up and have him call you. I think he was surprised I said that and said well what's the problem? I said my car for one thing. It's been damaged since the end of April and you have not done anything to rectify it. He goes well my guys said they didn't do it. I said well you weren't there I was and so was my husband and I saw it with my own two eyes. I told your employee not to move the lawn mower until I moved my car that it was a new car and expensive and I didn't want anything to happen to it. I was just laughed at and told it's a small lawnmower it will fit and well he went and did it anyways and scratched the car. He said well I called you and told you to go and get estimates. I said you never called me and told me that. I haven't talked to you since around May 2nd when you called me back regarding the situation and you told me not to worry that you and a friend that works on cars would be over to look at it and that you would take care of it and that you were sorry. You also said that you would be over during the week and I said ok just call first before you come so I can be sure to be home. Well he never came or called. The only reason I finally went and got estimates is because I never heard from you. He said well how much was the estimate for I said one was $1576 and the other was $1568. So I went with the lower of the two. He said no way is a little scratch $1568....there's no way. I said Anthony it's not just a little scratch it goes along the passenger side of my car (I should say van) and out through the bumper. Didn't you see the estimates I mailed you. He said he never got the certified letter that I mailed out to him on the 18th. I looked it up and it says that the post office tried to deliver it on the 19th but no one was home and there was a note left to pick it up at the post office and since it has not been picked up. He said oh ... well maybe I got the card upstairs.. I'll have to check. I said you do that!! I also said and the reason it's $1568 is because it's a deep scratch past the clearcoat and because of that the whole right side of the car needs to be repainted. It's not a cheap van. I have all top of the line stuff on it. The bumper has to be removed and repainted and the back up sensors are on there and the back up camera as well that shows everything on my navigation screen in the car. So guess you should of hit a cheaper car. I was just getting so mad at him at this point and most of what was said was yelled back and forth. Then he tells me oh and you owe me $600 so far and you haven't paid me. Oh really I said that is another thing I think you need to learn to do math agian because you didn't add my bill up right. First you owed me $100 credit from last falls cleanup that you said you did but didn't. Then you charged me for a $200 spring clean up that you said was done on April 30 th the same day your employee hit my car. Which was bull because all you did was mow because it was raining out. I also said I haven't paid you recently since right now I am out more money than you are at the momenet and when my car gets fixed you can get paid. So he looked back and said ugh ...yea maybe your right. I said yea I know I'm right and I'm right about my car too!! Then his voice seemed to calm down and and he said he would come over to look at it but wanted to come right away... Well my husband Alan was standing there listening to this whole conversation/screaming match and said no way are you going to be home alone with 3 kids while I go to work with a crazy man coming to the house. I told him if he wanted to come back at 7 p.m. when my husband was home he could he and he said no. I said well then I am busy with funeral arrangements for the next couple of days so how about Friday between 12-3 p.m. he said fine F r i -- Day be --tween 12 AND 3 I'll write that down.... that's the best way I can describe the way he said it. What a **bleep**!! He made it out that I was lying that there is no way a lawnmower or his employee would do that. He said he would know by looking at the scatch if his machine did it. I felt like saying why have you done this before. Why the heck would I make a story up like that!! I said how the heck would you like it if someone scratched your nice car which I think is a black hummer and then the company they worked for denied it and you saw them do it!! I can see if I didn't see the guy do it but I did. If I didn't see it I would have no real proof! I just have a feeling it isn't going to be pretty when he comes Friday. I am not at all looking foward to it at all. I think this is probably going to small claims court if he keeps denying it! Guess we'll see what transpires. I sure hope I am wrong though. All I know is it took me 3 hours to calm down after I got off the phone with him. Ughh MAD is an understatement.

Well I babbled on long enough...sorry to vent I just had to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening!!

Well I better get myself together and find something to wear tonight.

Have a great day!! Hugs

Wow Thrusday already. I feel like the week is flying by. It's supposed to be 90 degrees today but without the humidity. I can handle that. Yesterday was pretty quiet. I got up and did some cleaning. David went with Alan to work to help him with the new books this week. Alan said David is a good worker and learns quickly. They enjoy their time together. Later in the afternoon the girls had their friend over to play. It kept them busy and I cleaned out the refigerator and gave the kitchen a good cleaning. I also got in the baking mood so I made some blueberry muffins and some chocolate cupcakes. Yum they were good!

I have some pictures that I was able to get up today they are from July 4th, Summer Fun Day, and Ashely's Graduation. Check them out in the photo album.

I am also hoping to hear from my landscaper today or tomorrow. One of his workers decided that he would squeeze his lawnmower between my car and the house. Usually I would have moved the van across the street or into the garage but they showed up when I wasn't expecting them to come especially since it was raining that day. I ran outside and told the guy to wait and I would move it but I guess he didn't understand english and did it anyways(duh) so now there are some nice scratches going along the passenger side doors and out past the back bumper. Now mind you this happend on April 30th. Well how long ago was that almost 3 months ago. The owner said he would come and take a look at it and not to worry he would take care of it. Here I still wait. So on Monday I sent him out a certified letter with two estimates to have the van repaired. The damage was $1568 which was the lower estimate. The car has to be repainted on the right side becaue the scratches are too deep to be buffed out. Of course he still has not responded. I am having this feeling that I am going to end up in small claims court with this. But hopefully I am wrong. I'll let you know how I make out.

Have a great day!! Hugs!!

Hello!!

Yesterday was hot and it just made you feel like staying in the house in the air conditioning. My mom in dad though stopped by and picked up Brittany and Kaylee after school and took them into Queens to see my grandmother who's birthday is today actually. They enjoyed there visit very much. I took the time and had to run to Macy's to stock up on my Estee Lauder makeup. I was so out of foundation that I was scraping it out with a q-tip. During the evening the girls had their friend over to swim. Alan picked up chineese food and we just had a quite evening.

We also got to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Sunday evening. It really was based mostly on the book. It was good but I think I really like the first one. The kids seemed to like it alot. My next movie will be the Wedding Crashers which we are going to watch in a little while. I heard it's funny.

But what a day...so far today. I got up at 7 a.m. and got the girls to summer school. It sure was very hot and muggy. I can handle hot but the humid air was horrible. I came back home and made appointments for my mom and I to get our hair cuts. I had an appointment at 10:30 and my mom was at 11:30. Well just as I was leaving the hair salon at 11:15 the sky just opened up and it poured so hard. Of course I had no umbrellas on me and I was on my way to get the girls. Well I got soaked good. Thankfully when I got to school, it did lighten up a bit. After I picked up the girls, they liked my hair so they asked if they could get haircuts too. Their hair was so long, actually to the bottom of their backs. So back to the hair salon we went. Maria (my hairstylist) was just coloring my moms hair, which by the way came out very nice. Maria was able to do Brittany and Kaylee's hair while my moms color was setting. The girls had 7 inches each cut from their hair. Well they look so cute. Brittany couldn't stop staring at herself. Well we are home now and the sun came back out...finally but I don't think for long since I hear some thunder again and I can see the dark clouds in the distance. It's still so hot though. Hopefully the rest of the day will be nice and quiet. Alan is home today since the store is closed on Tuesday's for the summer.

Well as for the rest of the week, I don't have too much planned except for Friday. Alison (my best friend) and I are going out to dinner. Not sure where we'll go just yet but it will be nice to get out together.

Have a great week! Hugs!!

Summer has sure been busy. So much going on so far...

The past few days have been so sunny and hot! I got burnt real good in the yard while vacuuming the pool yesterday. My husband thinks I am just as nuts about vacuuming the pool as I am with the rugs in the house. What can I say I like to vacuum. I don't like dust in the house or any dirt in the pool either. Well today I paid for it that's for sure. I am sitting in bed right now with the chills and a very loose nightshirt on. My shoulders hurt so bad.

Anyways, Monday I had my cousin Colleen and her kids, my mom and sister over to swim and then the girls friend from next door came by also. We had a nice lunch and us girls love to just chat. My cousin Colleen and I grew up together. We used to live in a two family house in Flushing, Queens. She lived upstairs and my family lived downstairs. She is the older sister I never had (I'm the oldest of 3 girls). I love her to death and would do anything for her.

Brittany and Kaylee are enjoying school so far. Kaylee learned the "I'm a Little Teapot" song so I've been hearing her sing that over and over. She is so proud that she knows the whole thing and when she thinks no one else is watching her, I caught her singing it to the cats. She is such a cutie!! Brittany is doing better with her spelling and really likes her teacher.

David is busy as ever this summer. He is still doing much visiting at his friend Amanda's house and visiting with his friend Deborah who will be moving to Houston, TX in just 3 days. He also just got invited to go to Orlando, Florida with my sister Lisa and her daughter Ashley. Lisa was taking Ashley to Florida as a graduation present from elementary school. Nice gift!! Ashely really hasn't been on a real good vacation in her whole life so Lisa wanted to do something special for her. David is very excited. They are going at the end of August. The are going to Discovery Cove to swim with the dolphins and stingrays...wish I was going. They will also do all the other parks like SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure. I've been down to Florida so many times. I have done it to death!! My husband loves it though. He really loves theme parks. We couldn't go on vacation this year since we had to use that money for our new roof...but oh well we plan on taking a few day trips. Hopefully one to Hershey, Pa. to Hershey Park. Alan and I have always wanted to go there. It would be a nice overnighter for us. Alan has vacation from UPS at the end of July. Which means he is off at night but he still has to work the store. Though if we want to get away we can always get our employee to work an extra day or two.

Tonight I went with my mom to Weight Watchers . We both did well and we both lost the same amount of weight too. We both lost 1.2 lbs. I'm getting there. I got "The Firm" set from my sister who barely used it. She said watch out it's really hard. I shall see I guess. I'm hoping to give it a whirl this week. Got to get movin'!!

This weekend is my god daughter Ashley's graduation party/barbeque. Hopefully the weather is nice. The party is at my parents house so at least if it's hot the kids can swim. My parents have a nice inground pool that goes from 3 feet to 8 feet deep. Lisa and my mom were doing lots of shopping last night at BJ's getting all ready. I have no idea what to get Ashley though. I'll have to think of something quick. Maybe I'll run to Roosevelt Field Mall when the kids are in school in the morning.

Till tomorrow!! Hugs!!

Hello on this rainy day!!

Well 4th of July was very nice. We went to my cousins house in Deer Park. His neighbor put on an amazing fireworks show. It was 3 hours worth. They spent like $24oo on fireworks. Well needless to say the next morning my neck was aching from looking up. I will post some pictures later on in the photo album when I get a chance.

Brittany and Kaylee started summer school. They didn't have to go but it was recommended to keep their wheels turning during the summer. It's from 8:30 - 11:30 Mon-Fri. and it's only till July 29th so it's not too bad. They are enjoying it. As for David he's been busy hanging out with his friends. He's a little upset because his best friend Deborah (he's known since pre-k) is moving to Houston, Texas in a week. They get along so well. David is also not the type that has to have many friends he is happy with one really good one. It's also hard for him to meet people because of how shy he is. We'll see how 7th grade is this year.

Oh and it looks like we will be keeping the store. The person who was going to buy it had problems with his partner coming up with his half of the money to purchase and Alan and I didn't want to do a payment plan with the guy because say he went in there and didn't know what he was doing and the business went under....either we would have to take the store back or lose all our money. Oh well. It just wasn't meant to be I guess.

Today I guess I will just be in doing some laundry and some straigtening up.

Have a great day!! Hugs!!

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!

Hello!! Well I am doing better on the Zyrtec. I take it now when I get up in the morning and I am back to going to sleep at night alot easier. Guess it takes a bit of getting used to something.

Friday night we dropped the kids off at my parents house and Alan and I went out to return sneakers I bought for him for father's day. Since we were out we figured we would get a bite to eat at Red Lobster. I hadn't been there in years. Alan enjoys his fried shrimp and fried flounder. I am not a fish person at all...guess you can call me a land lover. I ended up with the steak. It was good and we had a really nice time.
Yesterday I decided to plant the rest of my impatients. I put alot of them around the patio and the pool. Alan said I made the pool look pretty. I can't wait for them to all fill in nicely. Then last night we went to my parents house for dinner and the kids ended up taking a swim. While we were over there the neighbors down the street were shooting off bottle rockets and firecrackers and my mom and dad's dog Lady Bell was so scared. She was shaking a panting terribly. Mom gave the dog a sedative but it really didn't do much. Poor thing. Later on my niece Ashley came back with us to our house to sleep over. Her and my son David are 9 months apart and are so close. They are like brother and sister!! They had a good time playing video games till all hours.

Today we will probably spend it in the yard in the pool till this evening when we were invited over my cousins house in Deer Park for a barbeque. He said his neighbor puts on an amazing fireworks show every year. The kids are excited...heck I am too!! I am trying to think of something to make and bring with me for the barbeque. I hate going empty handed. Hmmm.

Well I better get the rest of the crew up and make some breakfast for everyone before it becomes too late.
Have a great holiday everyone!! Hugs!!

Friday, July 1, 2005

The past few days have been so dreary and rainy. I need some sunshine!! Yesterday we even lost our power for 1/2 the day because the wind was blowing so hard it cause a tree to fall on the power line a few houses down from mine! Thank goodness my parents live close by in Massapequa so we packed up and went over. I just can't be in the house with the heat and humidity and NO central air with my asthma. I've been to the doctor twice this week because I am still coughing and having a hard time breating. The pulmonary doctor decided to increase my Advair to 500 instead of the 250 along with me taking my Singulair and Albuterol. I go back to him in 4 weeks. Then I went to my regular M.D. and she thinks I may have allergies which is causing me to have the cough so she put me on a allergy medicine Zyrtec. Well since I started the Zyrtec....now I CAN'T SLEEP!! It is now 4:19 am and I am still up!! Alan will be home from work soon from UPS and will think I'm nuts being up again for the 2nd night in a row. I just took some Nyquil so maybe that will help. Guess I won't be getting up too early tomorrow. That is if I ever get to sleep. Hopefully my body adjusts better to this medicine. Maybe I will try taking it in the morning so I don't have this problem at night.

Anyways...Thanks to all of you who have posted messages to Ronnie for his birthday which is coming up on July 2nd. If you haven't posted and would like to please go to his support page.
He appreciates all the messages he gets whether he knows you or not!!

Well I better shut this laptop and try to shut my eyes again before the sun comes up soon! LOL!!

Hugs to you!!
