Poor Misty

Well if it's not one thing it's another. I'm feeling much better after getting over having the flu. All the kids were sick last week too and were home from school. It just ran through the house. Alan was the only one not to get it so far. Then on Sunday my poor cat Misty, took a turn for the worse and is just not doing so well. She was so very sick and I have been sitting with her for two straight days. I won't go into all the gross details but she is not doing well. Though she has her good moments and her not so good moments. She is 15 years old and I hope this is not the end for her. I have 3 cats (Misty, Mandee who are sisters and Ellie Mae who is just 2 years old) and Misty really is my favorite. She is always by my side. When I was sick she always sat right by me the whole time. I want to do the same for her. I know some must think hey it is just a cat but they really are so much more than that. There there to listen all the time. The love so unconditionally. We spent 15 years together. I just can't imagine life without her. I just buried my other cat just a couple of weeks ago...Binkie who was 18 years old and died of cancer. I am so not ready to do this all over again with Misty but I will be there for her no matter what.

Here is a picture of her taken tonight after I had to bathe her again after an accident she had. She even let me blow dry her. She was shivering so bad I wrapped her in a blanket and put her in her bed. Poor thing.
Misty, not looking so good.

Misty, all curled up in her blanket in her bed.

Well not a whole lot else going on. Just trying to get ready for the holidays. I am having Christmas Eve at my house and hope that it is a nice evening. I have been doing lots of shopping online mostly. With me being sick last week, I just sat in bed and ordered things and wow this week I have my UPS guy working hard delivering many packages. Today I had deliveries from UPS, Fed-Ex and DHL. Crazy.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am so sorry that I haven't been by to visit. I hope to do that this week. I think of you all all the time and want to catch up.

Got the Flu

Ugh... I went to the doctor today because I woke up last night at 2:30 a.m. and wasn't able to throat felt like it was closing up every time I coughed. My husband jumped out of bed and set up my nebulizer machine and I took 3 treatments, which seemed to help. I was able to get back to sleep and called the doctor as soon as I woke up. I called my mom and she came over because Brittany was home sick with a sore throat and I couldn't leave her alone.

Well it turns out that I have a bad case of tonsilitis and the flu. My body aches so bad and my throat hurts. The doctor game me Tamiflu which is supposed to stop the flu from getting worse. She also gave me a strong antibiotic for my throat and a stong cough syrup to surpress me from coughing and aggravting my throat. I have to go back on Dec 6th for a follow up.

So I am just sitting her in my living room in my lazyboy and resting and drinking a nice hot cup of coco which is all I can do for now.

I aslo gave my mom the bones and what was left of my turkey from thanksgiving and she was going to make turkey soup and give me some tomorrow. I am looking forword to that!

Well going to rest some more.

Poor Binkie

Well as I told you in past posts our cat Binkie was suffering from cancer and took a turn for the worse on Monday, Nov. 27th. We were about to take her to the vet to end her suffering but as I held her in my arms as we were getting ready to leave, she let out a big meow and then started gasping for air. I felt she was telling us that she was going to do this on her own. We decided to keep her home and just let it 1happen naturally. I held her most of the time and then my mom and dad left to go and pick up my niece so that she could be there with Binkie as she wanted to be. I kept telling Binkie is was ok to go and that where she was going was much better and there would be no more pain. She continuted to keep gasping and finally when Ashley got home from school, I placed Binkie in her arms and within just a few minutes, she was gone. I think she was just waiting for Ashley to get home so that she could say goodbye. We took her back to my house and buried her in my yard next to my other cat Dexter. I just came inside a little while ago after going over to her grave and putting a few flowers on her. Binkie was the first pet Alan and I ever had together even before we were married. Binkine lived a long life of almost 18 years. We will miss her so much!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Whew!! It sure has been a while since I wrote last. Just so many things going on and very little time to do anything else.

I am up early cooking away. I got a fresh turkey from Zorn's farms. I never cooked a fresh one before. I usually get a butterball. But my girlfriend Alison swears by these turkeys saying they are so juicy and tasty.

I am having my parents it turns out my Dad came home a few days early because of the storms in the Carolina's. He figured he couldn't golf there and changed his plane ticket to come home and be here for Thanksgiving. My sister Michelle is coming as well. She is a manager of Stop and Shop Supermarket so she has to stay and close the store at 3 and then she is coming right over. It's only 5 minutes away.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving day!!

Sure been busy.

My father and his twin brother turned 60 this past week and we had a surprise party for them this past Saturday. Everything went great and they were so surprised. Everyone chipped in and got a trip for the both of them to go and enjoy a week of golf down in Myrtle Beach which is something they have been wanting to do for a long time. I also worked hard making a photo montage of them from when they were babies till now. They were very touched by it. I posted some pictures from the party. >> Click Here to View <<

While at the party, of course my sisters were there and I had to see my sister that I am not getting along with at the moment. It was pretty uncomfortable but we just ignored each other and I just made the best of it. I also spent some time with the cat "Binkie" she is not doing very well and has lost alot of weight due to her cancer and I think it's just a matter of a short time before she is going home. We have had Binkie for 17 years and she has had a good long life. But it is still so sad to see a pet you love go. They are just borrowed angels. I will see her later after I drop Brittany off at religous education later this afternoon.

Tuesday, I woke up early in the morning and took David to the dermatoligist for a skin rash he has had. Dr. Coss said he had eczema and prescribed some medication to help with the itching and rash. He has to go back on Nov. 28th for a follow-up. She said this was somthing common with people who have asthma. David has asthma but not bad. After the Dr. we ran to Target to fill his perscriptions that way I could do some shopping while waiting. I bought some things the Dr. suggested to help David with his sensitive skin. She reccommended Dove wash for sensitive skin since it has no fragrance in it and it is moisturizing. I got Cheer free laundry soap so that I can wash all his clothes and make sure there is no softners or fragrance that can also irriate his skin. Then we left Target and I drove to the school so that I could vote. I voted for a former classmate of mine who is running for Congress. I think it will be a tight race. David wanted to stop at Dollar Tree and look around for a bit. We ended up finding a few cute things. On the way home we stopped and picked up bagels and went home for lunch. I was pretty tired from running around all morning but when I got home Alan and the girls really wanted to go out and do something since they were off from school. We decided we'd go and see a movie. So we took them and Brittany's friend to see "Flushed" it was a cute movie for them. When I got home, I did some much needed cleaning and then made dinner.

Also I want to apologize for my lack of visting to all of my reads. I promise to be around to visit within the next day or so.

Big Hugs!!

Finally Friday

It just seemed like a long week to me. I am looking forward to the weekend. The girls are next door right's so quiet. LOL. David is home and is just hanging out with mom. I think we may carve our pumpkin tonight.

This Sunday is the Rag-A-Muffin Parade a parade hosted every year by the North Massapequa Fire Department. They have had it now for a little over 40 years. The kids sign up and march down Broadway to the firehouse where all their registrations are entered into a drawing for bikes, ipods, video game players, etc. Then they serve hotdogs and orange drink and a small snack. They have so much fun. I hope the weather is good. They say tonight into tomorrow is going to be winds gusting up to 50 mph and heavy rain. I hope it's all cleared up by Sunday.

Well I am off to go and make my meatloaf for dinner.

Monday News

Well it was a nice weekend. My niece came over Friday night and spent the weekend. She was so sweet and sat and helped Brittany with her reading one night which Brittany has been struggling with. Saturday, Kaylee had a great time at a birthday party she was invited to for a boy in her class.

Alan is doing well after his shoulder surgery. He just started therapy today and said he feels better.

I'm doing good. The pocketbook party was great I got a cute knock off Black Coach bag and wallet with a couple of cute coach key rings. We had a nice time just getting out and having a fun ladies night.

Today started off with my neighbor coming over saying she had to take her daughter to the hospital for a tick that was stuck in her daughters head. My daughter rides the bus with her to school in the morning so we take turns in the morning dropping off at the bus stop. Then at 10:15 am I got a phone call from the school principal telling me that everything was alright but my daughter Brittany's bus was involved in an accident on the way to school. Brittany said it was a different bus driver than normal and he seemed to be going a little to fast and hit the back of someone's car blowing out the bus tire and breaking a window on the car. Thankfully everyone was ok which was the most important part. The principal said he went right over to the scene of the accident to be with the children and everyone was good. They got the new tire for the bus and got everyone to school by 9:45 am 45 minutes late. I talked to my neighbor later on this evening and told her that she was lucky her daughter wasn't on the bus today and she was very surprised. She said they were able to get the tick out and it was being sent out to be tested to lime disease just to be sure. It seems they were upstate NY visiting and it was a very wooded area.

I went with my mom to the vet again to take her dog Lady (black lab) to the vet because she had to be re-checked from and ear and eye infection. The ears cleared up really well but her eye is still red so the doctor gave another ointment with cortisone to help speed up the healing. We went and dropped Lady off at home and then went out to lunch at the diner and then ran to Target because I wanted to pick up a web cam. My sister had got one and I had always wanted one. Great for chatting with people you don't get to see often. I was playing around with it this evening.

David got home after attending a homework club and brought home his best friend Amanda. She hung out and did homework with him and when Alan got home later on, we all went out to Friendly's for dinner and dessert.

Now I am just relaxing, doing my breathing treatments and then watching Two and A Half Men, Justice and CSI: Miami.

Poor Kitty

Hello. Well it's been a busy day today. I went with my mom to take her cat to the vet. She had been starting not to use her litter box and has been losing weight. The doctor ended up finding that her lymph nodes were swollen and that she had a hard lump on her back and some lump on her stomach as well as a swolllen tyroid glad. The cat "Binkie" is 17 years old. Her sister (litter mate) who my friends mom had died three years ago of stomach cancer and it really looks like that is what Binkie has now. She is very comfortable for now and if it comes down to her being in pain or uncomfortable then we will have to consider maybe putting her down. I hope it doesn't come to that though and she can just pass peacefully.

After the vet, I stayed at my parents house for a bit and chatted with my mom and dad for a bit and then ran home and got Brittany off the bus and headed straight off to her religious education class 6 miles away but she needed to be there for 4:15. Let's just say we just made it there sitting in rush hour traffic. She is in second grade this year and will be making her communion on Saturday, May 5, 2007. I will probably be having a party for her the same day for her. My sister who I am not getting along with right now is Brittany's Godmother so I don't know how that will go over if we are still not on speaking terms.

This weekend my other sister is having a pocketbook/jewelery party on Saturday that I am looking forward to going to. My best friend Alison is coming too. Oh and I just found out recently that my best friend Alison is also pregnant with her first child after almost 2 years of trying. I am just so happy for her and her husband. I know how long she has wanted a baby. She has also asked me to be the Godmother. I am just so happy and excited for her!! She is due the end of April.

I also put up the pictures from our pumpkin picking this past Sunday. We had a real nice time. If you'd like to see the pictures go >> Here <<

Well I am off to do some visiting. I have been neglecting that alot this week sorry about that. I also want to go and watch Lost and CSI: New York.

Big Hugs!!

Getting Chilly

Hello, boy the weather here is really starting to get chilly. I actually layered up in a heavy sweater today. I can't believe that upstate in Buffalo NY just had 2 feet of snow already. I'm feeling better from my strep throat and so is Kaylee. Kaylee ended up being home all this week with an ear infection and a fever.

Today was a cleaning day. I tore my bedroom apart, and gave the kitchen, living room, dining room and bathrooms a good cleaning. The girls and David each worked on their rooms as well. Though their versions of cleaning are much different than mine. It seems with running around all week Saturday is the only day to do anything. I am still working on laundry which I haven't done all week too.

I got my new laptop computer on Thursday and It is really nice. I am really enjoying being able to use it around the house instead of always being stuck in one room on my office desktop. It's also so nice and light only 5 lbs. my other laptop was so much heavier. This is much more portable.

I also finally got some pictures up from our vacation in July to Maine. Guess because of what happened with my sister I just never really wanted to look at them. I enjoyed the trip and all but guess with what happened by the time I got home I had no desire put them up. Click >>Here <<

Tonight, when Alan got home, we all went to IHOP for dinner and then stopped at Dunkin Donuts so I could get a nice hot caramel latte...gosh they are so good. We came home and the kids went to sleep. Alan and I are now laying in bed in the middle of watching some action movie "The Marine". I just really can't get into it at the moment. He also got the new movie "Employee of the Month" with Jessica Simpson. Maybe we'll watch that tomorrow.

Sunday, we are going to Schmitt's Farms to go pumpkin picking with my Mom and the kids. Hopefully the pumpkins are better this year. Last year they were terrible because there was just too much rain. I am also looking forward to getting some nice apples...especially Cortland apples they are my favorite and some Long Island potatoes so I can make a nice stew this week.
Hugs to All,

Surgery Went Well

Alan did really well. He has been in pain on and off for the last few days as would be expected. He is on extra strength vicodin for the pain. The first couple of nights I didn't get to sleep much. I got up every 2 hours to ice his shoulder, give him his medications and massage his arm so it didn't get stiff in the sling. Let's say I think he really enjoyed the attention. We took off his bandage today and he has two incisions on in the front of his shoulder and one in the back. He goes back to the doctor next Monday to have the stitches taken out.

We were able to get out a little bit over the weekend on Sunday. We finally got to the Italian Street Fair by my parents house in Massapequa. It's nice because we can use their driveway...and let me tell ya...if it wasn't for being able to use their driveway I would of had to walk blocks. Last weekend it was rained out. It was such a nice day and Alan was looking forward to getting out for a little bit. The kids played some games, Kaylee won a goldfish on her very first ball. Brittany won a big stuffed monkey with her big brothers help. Overall it was just nice getting out as a family. We were getting ready to leave, because I was meeting my sister Michelle back at my house, when my sister and her boyfriend pulled up in the driveway right behind us as we were getting the kids in the car. My sisters boyfriend got out of the car and came and said hello and was wondering if we were pulling out so we could switch spots because there was no parking because of the Fair. It was nice to see him again. My sister of course sat in the car. I am actually happy she did. I was very uncomfortable just knowing she was there it just brought up a lot of angry feelings. David just jumped in the car and said he still does not want to see her. Alan said to me are you still as mad as you were and I said "yes" he said wow I have known you 17 years and I cant remember when you were ever so mad at someone before but he totally understands. I told him maybe one day but not till she admits what she said.

Monday, the kids were home from school because of Columbus Day . I went to the Dr. for a follow up and because I am still not feeling so great. My throat has been bothering me. Well it turns out I have strep throat. So I was put on a stronger antibiotic and a new medicine for my nebulizer machine to help clear up me lungs some more.

Today Kaylee woke up this morning with a fever again and another bad cold. I hope she didn't get my strep throat. Poor thing she just stayed in bed all day and slept. You know when your kids are real sick when they stay in bed all day and sleep. If she is no better guess we'll be back at the pediatrician.

Well I'm off to bed....

Alan's Shoulder Surgery

Alan is having his shoulder surgery today. We have to be at the hospital at 8:30 a.m. My mom was nice to come this morning to help get the kids on the bus and off to school. I am hoping Alan and I will be back in time for them after school. David will be home so I know he will get the girls from the bus if we run late.

I went with Alan yesterday to his distributor to pick up the new trading cards that came out and some other supplies he needed for the store. We also ran to Target. I bought Alan a nice comfy zip-up sweat jacket since he won't be able to get his arm into a sleeve. I can just put this over him. I wanted to get him slippers so he didn't have to worry about tying his sneakers with one hand and bending over to do it when he is in a sling, but he didn't want them. Men are just so stubborn sometimes. He insisted he will be fine. Maybe it's just me worrying too much. Not that that is bad right? I also saw a nice bag for my new laptop but talked myself out of it. Now that I'm home, I decided I want it. The hospital is right around the corner from a Target so maybe I will run there while Alan is actually in surgery so I don't just sit around worrying.

Well let me get going, I'll let you know later on how we made out.
