Home Recovering

First Happy 9th Birthday to my daughter Brittany. Well it's been months I know since my last post. Time really does fly. The kids busy in school. Then sadly, my grandmother passed away on December 1st. at 89 years old. Then the holiday's just seemed to creep up very fast after that.

I ended up spending Christmas in bed. I felt so bad because just had my tonsils and adenoids removed on Dec 21st due to a bad infection on my right tonsil and then major swelling. I didn't think it would have to be done before Christmas but my doctor wanted me in there right away. He said it could be dangerous to wait even one more week. I am on day 9 after and I honestly can't believe the pain I am still in. When they said it is harder for an adult to recover from this surgery they surly mean it. My son David had it done when he was 10 yrs. old and he just slept for two weeks. I am on constant liquid codine and vicodin which makes me sleepy but if I don’t take it I am just in so much pain.

I have also lost all taste. I try to eat a little tiny piece of bread and it tastes like cardboard. I tried vanilla pudding I felt like it may as well of been eating glue. My tounge is red and raw and even if I do manage to tast something it just gets caught up in my throat and then I am choking.

Right now Alan and the kids are over at my sisters house for my nieces 14th birthday. I just could not got go. I feel bad but being around other people other than my immediate family is really more than I can handle. I have been a mess. I am so frustrated because it is incredibly hard to eat. I keep trying every day but don't have too much luck. I haven't eaten a full meal since Dec19th! I have lost 13 lbs since the surgery. I know it will take some more time to heal and things should get better. I have a follow up with my dr. next week. Well time for meidicine and bed.

Hugs and Happy New Year!!

Dawn
