Family Day Out

We had a busy day as usual. Alan had the day off today, so we decided to go out to lunch and run some errands. We went to IHOP and then to Alan's distributor to pick up supplies for our store. On the way there we ran into some geese crossing the road. It was funny watching them and the kids sure got a kick out of it. Then we ran to Staples to pick up some more school supplies. I am determined to have almost all of it so I don't have to handle the back-to-school crowds. We couldn't really decide what to do from there we were thinking a movie but there really wasn't anything that was good for the girls to see that they were even interested in except Space Monkeys...and no offense it just didn't sound so great.

So...we decided to pack a snack and go down to Eisenhower Park and play some soccer, ball, frisbee, etc. We had a nice time. Wish we could of brought Molly along but there are no dogs allowed in this park. While there we walked over to see the 9-11 Memorial that was put up not too long ago. It is in honor of those who died in the Word Trade Center that lived on Long Island. It was pretty to see and sad at the same time. The had pieces of the World Trade Center there as well. Click --> Here <-- to view all of my pictures from the day.
After, we went to feed the turtles I am watching for my cousin while she is away upstate. There names are Pokey and Tuby. Brittany, Kaylee and David sure had fun playing with them.

Over all it was a nice day out and a lot of fun.

I Am Blessed

Got up early this morning and did some laundry and then went and took care of the kitten next door with my girls who have been taking real good care of little "Izzy". Izzy is a little kitten I rescued from my yard sleeping in a old tree stump just a few weeks old with no mama cat in sight. I already have 3 cats, 1 dog and 4 fish so I really couldn't keep her so I had told my next door neighbor about the kitten and they so kindly gave her a forever home with them. She is looking so much better a little fatter and the little scratch that was once on her nose is gone.

Alan had to work in the store today because he had already given our employee the day off so my girls and I picked up my Mom and We also went to my Aunt MaryAnn & Uncle Eddie's 38th Anniversary surprise party around 2:00 p.m. We had a great time.
The picture on the right is them coming in and being surprised.

We got home around 7:30 p.m. and then I went over to go and feed my cousins turtles while she is upstate at her cabin. They are so cute as far as turtles go. I will try and get a picture of them when I go to feed them again. Then Alan and I took the girls to Friendly's for a quick bite. David just wanted to stay home because he wasn't feeling to great.

On the way home, we stopped at Dunkin' Donuts so I could get coffee and there was a homeless man sitting outside. I felt so bad for him. It really does make me feel grateful and blessed for what I do have. You know when you complain...I don't have this or that....well it puts life into perspective. I ended up giving him the few dollars that I had left in my pocket and I know he appreciated it. Last year my son David and I volunteered through church at the soup kitchen making sandwiches for people in need. It was a good experience and I am hoping to do it again.

I got home and grabbed my Ipod and went walking with Molly for a little while. It is good exercise for both of us and helps me sleep better. Oh and speaking of Molly doesn't she look cool with her sunglasses!! LOL!!

Well I am off to go read some before I get to sleep. So far the book I am reading "The Shack" is very good. I wish I had more time during the day to read. It is hard with the kids running around so I am lucky just to have a little quiet time at night to read in bed.

Lots To Do Today

I have lots to do today. It's been a busy morning so far. School is just a few weeks away. It starts September 3rd and I want to get all the kids organized for school. Especially their rooms. Going through their clothes and what doesn't fit anymore. It just makes it so much easier knowing where everything is.

Yesterday was pretty crazy again with the weather here. More hail and heavy rain and thunder. It has been like this now for a week on and off. I hope it doesn't mean we are in for a bad hurricane season.

Oh and Daisy is doing better. The anti-inflammatory medication must be working. My Dad said she got up and was moving around ... still limping but moving better.

Well off to get my work done.

We had a scare on Tuesday when my basset hound Daisy (who lives with my parents) who is 14 years old seemed to take a turn for the worse. She has been slowing down a lot and her legs have been weak due to aging. Well my Dad and Mom called to tell me that she could not walk and that her back end collapsed. We thought the worse and prepared ourselves that it may not be good and we may have to put her down. I went over picked up my Mom and Dad and Daisy and went with them to the Vet ER and after blood work and x-rays thankfully it turned out that Daisy must of injured herself and badly sprained her right back leg. Which is why she was having a hard time walking and was dragging herself to walk with just her front paws. It was so pitiful to see her like that, which is why we thought it wasn't going to be good. Daisy was sent home on some anti-inflammatory meds and some antibiotics. She is an old girl now but I think she has some years in her yet!

School starts in a few weeks, September 3rd. Can't believe summer is just about over. Brittany will start 4th, Kaylee 2nd and David will be in 10th!! I have been buying some school supplies and have been getting some good deals so far. I rather do it all now then deal with all the crowds and the messy aisles in the stores when school starts.

I have been also playing around with Facebook. It's been fun getting in touch with old friends and making some new ones. Maybe I'll see you there!

Relaxing Saturday

Got up early this morning and went to the Italian market with Alan for some things to make dinner. The weather is so much nicer than it has been the last couple of days. Brittany and Kaylee are fighting colds. I am thankful it is now and not when school starts. They have no fevers but their heads are stuffy and Brittany even lost a bit of her voice. It is so hard to keep them in and to rest.

I spent the day doing some cleaning and giving my room a really good cleaning. I also did the sheets and quilt like I do every Saturday. I don't know I have this thing about having clean sheets all the time if I could change them more often I would. I just love when they smell fresh and clean. Tomorrow the girls rooms get done too.

Right now I am waiting for Alan to get home he had to go back and close the store and count out for the day. I have dinner all ready to go when he gets home. Guess I will go for a nice walk with Molly who is sitting here watching all the other little doggies go by.

Crazy Weather

Today and yesterday we have been having some crazy weather here on Long Island. We just had a terrible thunderstorm that had heavy rain, 60mph winds and hail. Here is a brief glimpse of it before it got too bad to stand by my back door.

Spring is Here

Spring is here and love is in the air....It's sure been busy planning for a wedding for my sister Lisa on May 16th. So many things to do and so little time.

Can't believe it is almost the end of the school year. Only a couple of more months to go. Alan is off the last week in July so we are planning a trip then not sure what it will be yet. Though last year our road trip to Hershey and Gettysburg, PA was great. So another road trip would be fun.

The weather hear is finally starting to warm up to the 50's and 60's so I want to start planting a garden. I haven't done that in a couple of years with being so sick and I am really looking forward to it. I am now doing so much better since my tonsils have been taken out the day before Christmas Eve. Knock on wood!! LOL!

Alan is doing well and working hard as always. David just turned 15!! I can't believe I have a 15 year old! He is a good kid though. Brittany and Kaylee are growing up quick too!

Snow and News!!

Lots of snow today! Our first real snow on Long Island today! We usually don't get too much. It was good that the kids were off on winter break this week. It was a good day to stay in and do lots of catching up on things in the house. I also made a nice pot of meatballs and sauce for dinner and brownies & chocolate chip banana muffins for dessert. Here is a picture of Molly enjoying the snow.

I also heard J. Lo had her babies here on Long Island as well. In fact it was at the same hospital I was in last May when I was sick. I know that when I was in the hospital they made really nice hotel like hospital rooms on the top floor. I was even willing to pay the extra per day but they weren't open yet. It opened not too long ago. I bet she is up there in the lap of luxury!

Lisa and DarrenOh and my sister came over last night and asked me to be her Matron of Honor for her wedding. Darren also asked Alan to be one of his groomsmen and Davd a Jr. Groomsmen and Brittany and Kaylee are flower girls. She is getting married this May 16th. She just got engaged on Valentines Day. She will be having her wedding at the hall >>> The Chateau La Mer.<<< it's on the water and very pretty. I just helped her order her invitations. Darren and her have so much to do...getting a dress, limos, DJ, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, etc...May is not too far off.

Oh well off to finish doing some cleaing!

Shopping, Movies..Weekend.

Friday night Kaylee had a birthday party for a classmate at a craft place called Cool Crafts. While she was there and since it was in a big shopping area. I dropped her off and went to BJ's Wholesale for some meat for the week for dinner. Their meat is very good. I got a corned beef and some eye round roasts and then picked up one of their already cooked rotisserie chickens. I also ran into PetSmart to get some things for Molly. I didn't bring her shopping this time like I usually do and wish I did because this time I saw another Cavalier shopping with her mom. She was so pretty. It's cool to see what Molly will look like full grown. Also the trainer that works in that store has 2 cavaliers and I am going to go back and sign Molly up for an obedience class. I'd rather learn from someone who is familier with her breed. Anyways, Molly has so many little toys and the little bucket I had is just overflowing so I got her a cute fold up one that is plenty big for all the toys (see pic on left). Molly loved it after we got all her toys in there. She jumped in and was picking out her favorite ones to play with.
Also my sister Lisa announced she is >> pregnant! << She is not sure of the due date yet as it really wasn't planned and with her moving in their new house and all she has no clue. She goes next Thurday for a sonogram and then we will know. It most likely will be Sept/Oct 2008.

This morning . Alan got up and went into our store to set up a card tournament that he has every Saturday. Not really sure what we are going to do as a family for the rest of the day. Maybe a movie and dinner and then a quiet night at home. It's really too cold to go out and do anything outdoors. I will have to see what movies are playing that we can all go and see.

I also woke up to a birthday gift from my friend Kathleen. She bought me a new siggie from Susie's Graphics. It is the the one I am using below. Thank you so much Kathleen you are so very sweet and such a great friend!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my 38th Birthday. I was pretty busy. I was able to finish up our Federal and State taxes this morning. Then I had to go to renew my registration for my car.....and spent 2 hours at the DMV. I was just sitting there waiting for my number to be called and was falling asleep. I then ran over and got my car washed. It needed it badly. It has been freezing cold. I felt bad for the guys drying the car. I don't know how they do it with no gloves.

David has had mid-terms all week so he only had to go into school for testing a couple of hours each day and then Thursday and Friday he is off. I have to take him to the dermatologist tomorrow. His skin has been so dry/itching and nothing is helping him.

Well I am off. Alan will be home shortly and we are going out to dinner with the kids for my birthday.

Lazy Afternoon

Today I was home with a bad headache that finally just started to ease up a bit. I just sat and relaxed and watched some movies. Alan is busy in our basement straightening up things with Brittany.

My niece Ashley came over last night to spend a couple of evenings because she said she was bored so she wanted to hang out with her cousins.

Not really much to write about. Going to go and make my Meatloaf Parmigiana for dinner now.

Doctor's Follow-up

I'm finally feeling so much better. I had a follow-up at the surgeon's office and he said everything was healing very well. I told him that I still didn't have any taste yet and he said that was from the trauma from the surgery and that it could come back tomorrow, in two weeks, 4 months or even as long as up to a year. He said in super rare instances it doesn't come back at all. Thought he doesn't feel that will be the case for me. He also suggested that some articles have suggested that loss of taste may be due to a deficiency in a vitamin in the body. He suggested that purchase a good quality multivitamin such as Solgar Female multiple. I have been taking them now for 3 days. So maybe they will help and maybe not. I keep trying everyday to eat something that has been tasting bad but still no luck yet. It's driving me nuts.

Alan is home sick now with a bad cold. He didn't go into his second job at UPS for the last two nights. I worry about him because I know how hard he works. I have been trying so hard to get him to go to get a physical. He for some reason hates going to the doctor. We have a $10 copay and that's it everything else is 100% covered.

Tomorrow I plan on freshening up the rugs. I want to steam clean them. I also have some unfinished cleaning to do in my basement. There is just never enough room for everything.
Well I am off to go take the dog out once more and then go and catch up on Grey's Anatomy that I DVR'd earlier.
Have a good day!

Quick Update

Hiya! I just couldn't sleep so I figured I would write. Molly is laying next to me all curled up and so cute! She is such a sweet little dog. I'm doing better. I am finally up and around a bit more. Though the medication still makes me quite tired and sleeping during the day has caused me to stay up late like now it's 4am. I am still having pain in my right ear on and off but mostly late at night and early in the morning. I think from the pressure from laying down. I sleep as much in a sittle postition as I can to help. So I just sit with ice packs on my face for a little while and then wait for my pain medication to kick in. I have watched so much tv, read magazines even sat and paid all the bills today. So exiciting huh. Well sorry for such a short post.

Well off to try and sleep again!

Happy New Year!!

Day 10 post-op.

I am up after a terrible New Years Eve. I was feeling pretty lousy from my tonsillectomy and the referred ear pain I was havin and ended up falling asleep around 5 p.m. in the evening. Alan came home from work early, went food shopping and made dinner for him and the kids and let me sleep. I finally awoke at 9:30 p.m and was in excruiating pain in both ears and my throat. I had slept though one of my medication doses and boy did I pay for it. I always remember my mom who is a nurse saying that when you miss a dose of pain meds and end up in pain, when you take your pain meds it can take twice as long for them to kick in again. Which is why it is important not to miss a dose. Well of course I missed it and ended up crying in pain for most of the night. I kept begging God to take away the pain it hurt so bad. I sat and did lamaze breathing and tried to focus on something and think of something good but nothing helped. I took all of my medication and even a touch extra. Well finally around 2:30 am things started to ease up and by 3:30 am the pain had totally subsided. Oh my gosh I would not wish this on my worst enemy. I would rather give birth to all three kids again then to go through that again or this whole experience. It is so frustrating. Well it's now 4:07 am and I am finally getting a little sleepy again and I think I will lay down and get some more sleep. I wish I could just be knocked out and not woken up until I was 100% again. I just have to keep thinking positive and know it will get better.

Hope you all had a wonderful and blessed New Year!
