Went with Brittany's class today to the Roslyn Museum of Art. I only went because Brittany was not allowed on the school bus because of her broken ankle. I had to make sure elevator was working and there was a wheel chair for her. It all actually worked out fine. Here is a video I made of the pictures I took.
Tomorrow, I am having family over to celebrate Alan and David's Birthdays. It is always nice when the family gets together. Not sure what I am getting Alan yet. David is a little easier...most likely something for the computer. Then after, I have a few of Brittany and Kaylee's friends coming over for a sleepover which they are looking very forward to.
The bedroom set finally came and it looks beautiful. I am still waiting for my area rug, pictures, curtains, lamps and desk to come in the mail so maybe by next week it will all be finished. Here is a few pictures of what it looks like. (You can click on the pictures to make larger)
Wow what a day!! Busy, busy...went to the Pulmonologist, Dunkin Donuts, Bagel Shop, then to pick Brittany up at school and take her to her class trip because she wasn't allowed on the bus because of her broken ankle, then I took David to get blood work done, then went to Best Buy (bought Bose earphones for my IPhone and a digital picture frame), then I went and picked up Alan at home and took him to pick up his car from the mechanic, then went back to pick Brittany up from her field trip, stopped at my doctors office, then drove to Brittany's school to get her homework since it was the end of the day, came home installed new blinds with Alan and ordered the rest of the stuff from The Country Porch for my bedroom, then had to go and pick up Alan and Kaylee from the stores a few blocks away since they walked and it started to rain, came home and then went to get my hair cut and finally I am home and done for the night!!
This is the floor below we put down in our bedroom. It is a Pergo flooring. I am already breathing better without that carpeting! My pulmonary doctor was very happy I finally did this!
Here is a look at my room before (on the right)it was painted and before the wood floor went down.

Here is a look at my room (on the left) after it was painted. Maybe not the best picture but it gives you an idea.

I will get a picture tomorrow with the furniture and the new floor. Tomorrow the furniture comes. I am so excited and can't wait to see how it will all look.
What a crazy day. The Hospital, the orthopedic etc...
My 11 year old Brittany, had a little spill this morning when getting up and twisted her right ankle. She was crying and in a lot of pain and couldn't walk, so I took her over to the hospital to have it looked at and have an x-ray and was told it was a salter-harris fracture (has to do with the growth plate in her ankle) and she was put in a cast, shoe and crutches for two weeks.
Finally, I am home and Brittany took some pain medicine and fell asleep. She will be out of school tomorrow and will go back on Monday. She will have to use the elevator in school and no gym either. I hope she is feeling better in time to start on the Nassau County spring track team her and Kaylee are going to be on. Thankfully, practice doesn't start until mid April.
St. Patricks Day Ahh... the day of the wearin' of the green, music and songs, Irish food and drink, watching the parade in NYC. Most importantly it is celebrated as a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
I am cooking my traditional St. Patrick's Day dinner of corned beef and cabbage with red bliss mashed potatoes. I just love how the house fills of the smell of the corned beef cooking. The girls walked in from school and said mmmm....it smells like St. Patrick's Day in here!!
It really is such a beautiful day today here on Long Island. Spring-like indeed!! My flowers are starting to come up. In just a few weeks it will be time to plant the garden! I really do look forward to that.
Our bedroom is coming along...we feel a little behind with the painting and just finished up yesterday so we are going to lay the floor this Saturday instead. I really like how the color came out.
What a weekend...Rainy and Windy. Great weekend for cleaning out our bedroom. It has been a huge job to say the least. Twenty years of stuff in this room. We have kept our room clean but never had to empty two closets out and two huge dressers and two night stands out. Also, finding papers from Alan's parents some sentimental so it was tedious to go through everything. Not to mention all the pictures...gosh loads of them...put them in boxes to go through later on and sort them. I got rid of 85% of all my clothes. It is amazing what you collect over the years.
The picture on the rightis one I am thinking about going with. It is a print from Dotty Chase. She does a lot of American Folk art.
Alan is off getting coffee and lets not forget also we turn the clocks ahead tonight...darn I lose an hour tonight. Tomorrow we have my parents coming over to help move the rest of this furniture out. It is really old heavy cherrywood.
Ok...my 5 minute break is up....back to cleaning!!
So excited to be pre-ordering the new iPad coming out in April. The iPad I want is with the 3G + Wi-Fi capabilities. The 3G+WiFi version will be released in late April but it available for pre-order tomorrow. I already own an iPhone, 27 inch iMac that I love and now this will be my latest toy! I am such a technology geek!
Everything is coming along with the room makeover. We are painting on Saturday and then on Sunday my parents are coming over to help us move out the old furniture and mirror so the new Pergo floor can go down. My Dad is going to help Alan with it. We are excited to see how it will look! We are even thinking about doing one in the living room and hallway. I hope getting rid of the rugs will help my asthma.
Tomorrow Bella goes back to the vet. Her little cough is gone and she is doing really well. She is really such a sweet puppy!
The kids are doing well with school and I think they are already looking forward to the Easter break which is early this year.
As I write this I am waiting on Alan to get home from work. He has been busy with his re-model in our Comic Book Store he knocked down the back wall and made the back office smaller but gained more room for the gaming area. I will get a picture when it is all done.
So the theme of my bedroom will be a colonial theme. It will look so nice with the new wood floor Alan is going to put down and the new furniture.
Bed: I have chosen for my bed a nice colonial collection the Williamsburg Brighton Red Quilt from C&F Enterprises pictured on the left. The quilt has a white background with delicate toile designs in red.
Broyhill Glenmore Set which has a nice honey borwn color. We bought it at Raymoure & Flanigan. We got the dresser and mirror, tall dresser, side tables and bed.
Liked this desk a lot and the color and style I thing goes well with the theme. It will hold my 27inch IMac which we use in our room for a computer and television.
Now I have to work on some prints for the room and lamps...I really like the primitive saltbox prints by Dotty Chase and Warren Kimble. Slowly it should all come together.
Took 11 week old Bella to the Vet today. She still has a little cold but is feeling much better. She even gained an ounce...she is now 2.6lbs. She also got her new pet tag in the mail. I Love these pet tags. Molly has one as well. It is from Animal Stars If you click on the link, on the page where they sell the tags along with some famous doggies is my dog Molly at 10 weeks old on the bottom right with her pet tag that they use for advertising. They are a little pricey but divided out over the next 10+ years you have your dog it really isn't so bad. Bella is doing well with potty training. She is pretty much wee wee pad trained already...she looks for the pad and goes. I would have preferred to train directly outside like I did with Molly (I had her trained in a week or two) but Bella had the cold so I couldn't plus all the snow. Poor little girl would have been lost.
Alan and I are getting ready to do some big cleaning out of our bedroom getting rid of it all and starting fresh. I am still a little torn on the color of the bedroom which we will be painting next weekend. I think I will do a more neutral warm color. I also am going to look into putting down a wood floor in the bedroom as opposed to the plush rug. With my asthma it is really not the best idea to have a rug so maybe just a big area rug that I am able to clean under. Rugs really do hold lots of dust in them. I have a Dyson and what comes up even if I vacuum every day is so gross. We will go and look into all of this on Tuesday when Alan is off. In my last post I put a picture of the bedroom set. I am looking tonight at some nice quilt sets for the room. If I find one I will post it here. The Country Porch has some really nice ones that are made very well...cotton and cotton filled not that polyester fill stuff you find in some stores.
