A Cause For A Celebration

Happy 10th Birthday to my beautiful daughter Kaylee Rose.   We celebrated on Saturday with family and friends.  Today We went to the Sweet Hills Riding Center in Melville, NY to do a trail ride...something that Kaylee has never done before and has wanted to do for so long.  She had an awesome time...we all did!  It was a hot day, but it was and easy one hour ride.  After, we took Kaylee to Friendly's for dinner, then went to my parents home to have cake for Kaylee.  She was really excited when my parents gave her a HDTV for her room.  She was so happy!!

Also, I was really excited to find out this morning, that I won a summer photo contest from the site The Little Things that I put my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in.  Then I found out their picture was featured on www.AnimalStars.com where I got their name tags from.  Here is the picture or you can click on the link to see it on the main page and a few other pages on their site.

Tomorrow is my younger sister Lisa's birthday, we are all going over to have cake and celebrate tomorrow evening. This weekend coming up we have a Labor Day Party we are looking forward to going to.  So busy celebrating this week!  It's great to be able to get together with family and friends and I enjoy every bit of it!

I also got something sent to me in my email today from my cousin that I thought the message was so true.

A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:
'This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package.'
He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.
'She got this the first time we went to
New York , 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on , was saving it for a special occasion.
Well, I guess this is it.
He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died.
He turned to me and said:
'Never save something for a special occasion.
Every day in your life is a special occasion'.
I still think those words changed my life.
Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.
I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.
I no longer keep anything.
I use crystal glasses every day...
I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to.
The words 'Someday....' and ' One Day...' are fading away from my dictionary.

If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now....
I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell..
I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels.

I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favorite food.

It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come..

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

emember that 'One day' is far away.. or might never come.....
Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one...

Family Photos
The weather today was kind of blah so we just ended up having a nice quiet Sunday.   I decided to work on a frame I bought almost a year ago and put some pictures in it an hang it in my hallway.  So happy we have pictures of many of the events and just common day things we do and of the people we love especially the ones who are no longer with us.
  • In this frame I have pictures starting at the top and left to right.
  • Our engagement party 1990.
  • Alan's Dad and his Aunt Mary at our wedding in 1991
  • Brittany and Kaylee playing
  • My parents with my niece Ashley, and Brittany & David on my best friend Alison's wedding day.

Two Tickets to Hawaii

We are so excited.  We just purchased two tickets for our 20th Wedding Anniversary which is May 26, 2011.  We will cruising on the NCL Pride of America to the islands of Hawaii.  The cruise will be May 21, 2011 for seven days.  We are going to leave a couple of days early so that we can see a little of the Island of Oahu and hopefully adjust to the time change for us since we are coming from NY and it will be six hours earlier.

Picture of the Owner's Suite we booked
We got a great deal at American  Discount Cruises & Travel with Alan's Union Plus discount and as an added bonus, $950 on on board credit for booking over 9 months in advance. I even called a few travel agents to see if they could match or do better than the deal we got and no one could believe how much we were getting.  We even booked the Owner's Suite which is 870 square feet and even has a jacuzzi on our private balcony.

I have been doing some research as well and found a great site that also offers tours on the islands for way less than the cruise does some at almost half the cost.  The site is Robert's Hawaii. Here is the map of the places we will be seeing.

Summer is also coming to an end.  Just feels like it flew by.  We had a great family trip to Lancaster, PA at the end of July.  We stayed at the Eden Resort which was really nice.  Went to Dutch Wonderland and visited a farm and did some shopping.  Here are a few pictures.

The end of this month is my youngest's Kaylee Rose's 10th birthday.  We are having family and friends at our house on Aug 28th.  Kaylee is looking forward to it.

Have a great day!
