In Hospital Again - Acute Asthma Attack

Had a horrible asthma attack and I am in Withrop University Hospital.  I couldn't breathe when I came in they did take me right away.  Started me on IV magnesium, that is after it took them three times to get a vein.   Then they gave me IV steroids which help some with the wheezing but I was still really short of breath.  They admitted me to 510 bed 1.  Stupid TV costs $7 a day it's all fuzzy and I get like 7 channels all the rest are screwed up.  This hospital sucks. Really need upgrading in rooms.  I knew I should have went to North Shore Hospital so much nicer.  Even Nassau University Medical Center is better.  It's real nice that they come and wake you up at 5:45 am to do vitals too but I guess that's anywhere. On the up side IV steroids have stopped my wheezing and calmed my coughing.

UPDATE May 26, 2015 :  Out of that horrid hospital that needs so much updating it's unbelievable.  Rooms, beds and pillows are a joke.  Maybe try some new paint and curtains that are falling down in the rooms. Also here's a major doozie.  I just found out from my x-rays that I had partially collapsed lungs from my asthma attack. Winthrop didn't even tell me this when I was in ER!!  How can they do that! They did this once before to me back in 2012 when I went to hospital with severe abdominal pain and they ended up sending me home only to find out that my cat scan showed I had a huge gallstone they didn't tell me about.  That I later had to have surgery to remove my gallbladder.   I would never go back to this hospital again.  It's a little further away from me but North Shore Hospital is much better.  Completely updated and a much nicer place to stay.  I couldn't wait to get out of Winthrop they even wanted me to stay longer and I was like no way.  Three days there was worse than 10 days I had to stay in North Shore Hospital.   Winthrop Hospital is horrible!!  Glad to be out of that place.

Please Help A Friend

People will let you down.  That's what my friend Jason said to me today as he removed himself from Facebook and emailed me as to why.  Yes there were people who came together and gave to help support him and his very sick little boy born with down's syndrome and now fighting for his life with leukemia.  He also said there were others and I know at least one of them (ex-friend now) who emailed him for his address and said they would send something and never did.  How cruel of a person do you have to be to do that.  If your not going to do something don't ask.  It's rude.  Why give them hope that you want to help and don't.

Now he has lost his job because of so many days off from work to be with his sick son and they have taken away his company car.  They just lost their electric and are hoping social services can help. Please he and his family really need the help.  I know he is too proud to ask so I am asking please help him if you can.   Any amount will help.  $1, $5 dollars.  Thank you!

New Fence

Had our new fence installed this week by Nassau Fence Co.  They just finished today.  We had an old cedar fence we had up about 14 years.  It looked tired and worn.  So we decided to go with the PVC Lattice Fence.  Looks really good.  Plus since it is set in cement it is considered a capital home improvement. We are happy with it.  Here are some pictures.  I think it will help make the yard look nice when we replace our patio next year with pavers.  So much updating to do when you have a house.

We also had the sprinkler guys here today to do the turn on for our in-ground sprinkler system.  The grass is nice and green.  I have the Gardner coming in a week or so to plant some nice trees out front and put flowers all in the flower beds.  I'll take more pictures when that is done.

Planning Kaylee's Graduation from Woodland Middle School.  I really can't believe how fast the time has flown by.  I have a son who is 22 and getting ready to graduate with his bachelor's degree in a year and a half.  Brittany will be starting 11th grade and Kaylee will be starting High School.  My babies are grown up.  I am happy I chose to have kids when I was in my 20's.  Being 45 and I see how some people are just starting families has to be so hard.  It's nice that my kids are older now and Alan and I have so much more time for ourselves and can go away anytime we want.  At least we won't be 60 something when they graduate!  We will also get to be around and enjoy them when I am older.

Anyways, I was working on a card for her invite.  So much is going on almost every weekend this summer starting with Father's Day in June the first available date was in July.  That's ok Kaylee said we can have a nice pool party and she will have lots of fun with her friends and family.

Kaylee Healing

Well it's been just over a week since Kaylee had her wrist surgery. Today was her follow-up with her orthopedic to remove her soft cast and stitches. She has a 2 inch scar from where they had to take out the ganglion cyst and 2 small scars arthroscopy. She is now in a splint that she has to wear until the end of June. In a few weeks she will be able to start physical therapy. Hoping all makes her feel better.

Mom, over the years I've watched the wonderful ways you've made life special for our family...all the moments of love and laughter, the traditions and memories we will carry with us throughout our lives. But most of all I've watched the way you've shown us the true meaning of love in everything you do. We are all so blessed to have you as our Mother! Happy Mother's Day...We love You!!

Thank you to my husband Alan and my three beautiful children David, Brittany, and Kaylee for the beautiful cards, flowers and the new Mophie for my IPhone 6 Plus. Love you all so much. Thank you to  my sweet husband also for the nice dinner at the steak house on Saturday night.  Always enjoy our time alone together, you always make me feel special. Thank you for making it a special Mother's Day!

We spent the day at my Mom and Dad's with my sisters and brother-in-laws celebrating Mother's Day.  We had a beautiful day for a barbecue.  We also celebrated my Mom's 67th Birthday which is on May 12th.  Couldn't ask for a better day!

Kaylee's Wrist Surgery

Kaylee had her wrist surgery today at SurgiCare of Manhattan.  She broke her growth plate back in
Kaylee in recovery after her surgery.
October of 2014 when she fell on an outstretched hand while playing basketball.  Was in a hard cast for 6 weeks and still complained of pain in her wrist and poor range of motion.  Doctor suggested physical therapy but after a few visits the pain only increased.  Finally in March of 2015 the doctor ordered an MRI which showed a TFCC tear and a ganglion cyst in her wrist.  We saw a doctor at Winthrop Orthopedics who is a hand surgeon he was such a jerk said nothing was wrong with her.  Finally found another hand surgeon who was the chief of hand surgery at Lennox Hill hospital in Manhattan and he said it needed to be cleaned and the cyst needed to come out.  All of which could be causing her pain.  On May 13th she is going to doctor to have her soft cast removed as well as her stitches.  Then she will be put in a splint for a few weeks while she heals followed by some physical therapy. I am hoping this surgery brings her some relief from the pain she was having.
